Expectations
"As a fan, does it really matter if your football team loses 2 or 3 games a year? NCAA football is so competitive that all you can ask for is for your team to be competitive, if LSU loses 2 games this year there will be some idiots ready to fire Les, but serious, if we are on the "same level" I say so what if we drop 2 at the most 3 games a year. I will agree that 4 or more loses year in and year out isnt what season ticket holders are paying to see, but why do people take it so personal?" GeauxChrisSports
If you listen to fans of LSU who were “there for the lean times” you’ll learn a lot. Not only did they have to walk 17.5 miles through the snow to get to LSU games, and not only did they cheer louder and get drunker than the new version of LSU fans, but like a woman with Battered-Wife Syndrome, they have no expectations. Yes, the only things they expect every Saturday during the college football season are food, alcohol, and the roster of LSU doing some form of synchronized anaerobic activity on a football field.
You know what? Fuck you. Seriously
Just because you were a huge LSU fan when they sucked does not give you some badge of honor. I went to LSU at the start of the Golden Age of LSU Football – Started in 2001 and I
should graduate with a post-graduate degree in May after celebrating another SEC title andpossibly a national title. That doesn’t make me less of a fan than those who were at every home game in 1999. You had the misfortune to be around when LSU sucked, oh fucking well. You’re punch drunk from the gut checks. Your heart has been broken more times than those 40 year old guys on MySpace who honestly think the cam girls friend requesting them want to be their friends.
Ok, we get it, we can’t win the national title every year even though we’re one of the most talented teams in the NCAA. Nobody who is sane actually expects that. But expecting LSU to win the SEC is not a lofty goal. It may have been lofty when LSU sucked, but LSU is the most talented team in the SEC this year. There is actually a decent gap between LSU and whoever is the #2 team. NO team in the West comes CLOSE to LSU’s talent level. There is a HUGE gap in the West. The East has more talent than the West this year, but their top teams have flaws, especially on defense. Florida is completely rebuilding. UGA had worries on defense WITH Oliver in the secondary. USC has talent in some places but it isn’t evenly distributed. Tennessee hasn’t been BCS-worthy in years and lost some key defensive guys from a so-so D last year. So after this mini-SEC analysis, you have to ask yourself, why AREN’T we the heavy favorites?
I have thought about this since 2003 and I’ve come to this conclusion. You people aren’t fans of LSU football. You’re fans of the legend of LSU football. You’re fans of the tradition of LSU football. You’re fans of getting drunk on Saturday nights and acting a fool. But you’re not a fan of the team. You don’t give a fuck what the LSU FOOTBALL team does on the field. You put on a face like you’re a fan, and you use the, “hey guys I’m going to be proud of them no matter what they do” mantra to hide it. You spin losses with, “well at least this isn’t as bad as (insert year from before Saban arrived).” But all that you’re doing is showing that you don’t care. You’re as happy with a 4 loss season as you are with a 0 loss season. You low expectation having motherfuckers are a cancer of this fanbase. You hold back real fans by rallying support of your anti-fan nature with the other people who would choose Johnny Walker over Early Doucet any day.
I hope to Christ you people don’t have kids. If you do I can only imagine the rewards you give if your kids come home with Cs and Ds on their report card. I bet you people are the pathetic parents who tailgate for Little League baseball games and can’t even identify your kids on the field during the game.
Grow a pair.
Please. Just grow a pair. Actually expect that the better team wins. Expect that the most talented team with one of the best coaching staffs in the conference wins that conference. I’ve learned that there are going to be tons of morons in life (especially in the South), but don’t bring our fanbase down by being fucking retarded. I’m begging.
Please just support LSU.
I'm not Afraid to Expect a Great Team. Say it out loud.
